Registered User Posts: 14 10/24/08 13:43:36	Tags : None I always thought that the Fagor pressure cookers were manufacured in Spain. All the advertisements used to say that. I bought a Combi Duo set and ti comes with an 8qt Duo cooker and it says "Made in Spain" on the bottom of the cooker. I bought a 10qt cooker separatelt and it does NOT say made in Spain on it. Plus, the 8 qt is actually HEAVIER than the 10 qt cooker. What the heck ? Should I be returning the 10qt Duo and start searching for one that is definately made in Spain like my 8qt Duo ? I now see some ads say that Fagor is "Designed in Spain" "Made in China". So. How about it Miss Vickie ? What is the real scoop on where these Fagors are made ? Thanks, Tim

I just received a 10 quart Duo and the box was marked "Made in China" and the stamp "Made in Spain" was not on the bottom like it is for my 6 quart and 8 quart Duo cookers. I am sending the one back that says Made in China. It is a lot lighter in weight than the ones made in Spain. So my quest begins for a 10 quart Duo which is Made in Spain. I wonder if anyone who sells them would be willing to look to see if the ones they have say Spain ? Thanks for getting the inside scoop from Fagor on Monday. Regards, Tim

They weren't much help to me in trying to help me locate the 10 qt Duo which is "Made in Spasin". They said they have plats in Both countries. That poses another question...... why ? Thanks, Tim

Registered User Posts: 1189 10/31/08 08:32:38 Owner	I finally have a reply from Fagor: We use both Spain and China as Manufacturers. The only way of telling where they were made is by checking the bottom of the pot for the stamp. I have the Fagor 10qt, and it is a model made to spec for the Cooks Essentials brand. This large unit is made from a somewhat thinner gauge steel than the other Fagors I have, but I suspect this was a cost saving measure due to the large size and the added non-stick coating. At any rate, the 10qt functions just as well as any of my other Fagors, so I can tell you that I have no complaints as to its performance. I do appreciate the extra height of this tall pressure cooker because allows me to stack up to 3 trays containing separate PIP recipes for a full 3-course meal. This photo shows how I use it to cook a quick and easy meal of steam roasted chicken breasts, a rice rilaf, and steamed baby carrots that I stacked in the Fagor 10qt. It only takes 6 minutes to cook, and the natural release. If nothing else, its tremendously useful if you like using my PIP recipes, and its very good with cooking huge quantities of thick, tomato-based pasta sauces or chili without scorching. Here's another photo that shows more stacked PIP recipes, this has a tray with meatloaf in the bottom and cornbread in the covered pan on the top. The cooking time is 20 minutes and the natural release. Here's how my cornbread turns out when cooked in the pressure cooker. I hope this will give you a little more useful information to help with your purchasing decision. If you have other questions just ask. The 10 quart Duo I had was definately made in China and was not the cooks essentials, but was also still definately lighter than the 8 quart I have. Thanks again. Tim

Registered User Posts: 18 11/27/08 19:38:23	I bought Fagor's "Commercial Elite" at Macy's. Made in China. I can't imagine a pc this size (4 qt) being any heavier. It is well made and has held up well over the last year. My perception is that one made in Spain would have given me more reassurance for quality control, but if the Chinese plant follows specs as structured by Fagor, then I can be assured that what I bought is close to the Spanish-built pc. I do intend to follow up on the Casa pc, whose material looks and feels similar to the Fagor brand, but when its exterior was "plunked" by my finger, I detected a slightly different sound, very subtle, may have indicated a slight reduction in metal quality, although its material is listed with the18/10 composition rating. (the other numbers indicated a possible lower pressure cooking rating, being at 0.7). Whether a pc by Fagor is made in Spain or China, I think most of the, if not all, include a ten-year warranty. I could have sworn that just several years ago, Casa included a 5 year warranty. Now I see it is just one year.

Registered User Posts: 14 11/28/08 05:34:48	I can't argue weather or not there is any difference in performance between the Spain or China PC's, but the finish and weight were very noticable. It's a case of "Ignorance is Bliss".... if you don't know any better, you would think the one from China is fine. It's like the differnce between a Honda Accord and an Infinity.... they both get you where you have to go, just one does it in more luxury ! I knew of the difference and once I was aware, I could not bear the thought of paying the same price for something which was even a "slightly" lessor product. Tim

Registered User Posts: 1 03/08/09 09:30:15	I'm starting to lose patience trying to find a Fagor Duo 10 qt pressure cooker that is guaranteed to be made in Spain. I have found sites that list "Made in Spain" in the ad, but is that really a guarantee that what I receive will be manufactured in Spain. I've seen reviews of Fagor Pressure cookers on Amazon of people saying just that - the ad said "Made in Spain" but the PC they received was made in China. I don't want to go through an internet return process and pay shipping and restocking fees. I can't find a retail store anywhere near me that sells the Fagor Duo line either. Can someone (Miss Vickie, timp, vliz) tell me where they purchased their "Made in Spain" model or tell me of a web store that can guarantee selling me a "Made in Spain" Fagor Pressure cooker? So that means the Duo's or at least some of them are now made in China. Also can anyone list the order of their lines for me, for instance which line it top of the line then on down? Is it the same as it is listed on the Fagoramerica.com website?
