My grandmother just gave me her Decor Pressure Cooker, however we can not get the lid off. How does it remove?

First, is there any liquid or food left in this cooker?

No there is no food left in it...but it has been sitting on a shelf for a few years.

Michellemurphy, I'm guessing that it has been stored with the gasket in place? If so, the gasket may have become sticky, sort of bonding the lid to the
pan of the cooker. I'm not sure how to proceed? Perhaps gently heating the pan somewhat may loosen it enough to get the lid off. Be careful, of course,
not to overheat. Do you have a suggestion, Vickie?
Then, you will want to clean both the lid and the pan to remove any gumminess. You will also need to replace the gasket before attempting to use this cooker for the first time. Let us know how it turns out. G
